Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal on Sunday inspected the District Administration Office in Lalitpur.
A team led by Minister Aryal reviewed the office’s service delivery, the services provided to citizens, and the procedures related to the National Identity Card.
During the visit, he stated that the government is committed to providing citizens with easy, fast, and hassle-free services in line with the digital age. He noted that the previous system, where people had to fill out separate forms at different government offices for similar information, has been replaced by an integrated service through the National Identity Card.
Earlier, service seekers were required to fill out a pre-enrolment form and visit designated centers to submit biometric data, which increased time and cost. However, with the integration of the centralized citizenship management information system and the national identity management system, the pre-enrolment requirement has now been removed.
According to the ministry, the system is currently linked with 12 public services. This has reduced duplication of work, saved government resources, and helped control financial and social crimes.
Services are now being delivered in a more technology-friendly manner by verifying identity through the National ID number and using personal and biometric data, which is expected to strengthen good governance.
The ministry stated that around 6,000 to 8,000 service seekers are benefiting from the system daily. Minister Aryal described this as a historic step toward improving public service delivery.
