The Pathibhara Area Development Committee decided to halt the bell auction following feedback from various stakeholders, including devotees, intellectuals, and the local community, regarding the decision to sell bells donated by pilgrims to the religious Hindu site.
Prajin Hangwang, the Executive Director of the committee, stated that the decision was made after considering suggestions from the public.
Although the auction has been temporarily delayed, the committee plans to make a final decision at its next meeting.
On November 29, the committee had issued a public notice announcing the auction of old bells, with a total weight of 16,378 kilos, donated by devotees to Pathibhara. The minimum price was set at Rs. 380 per kilo. However, the auction was postponed due to widespread criticism, particularly on social media and networking platforms.
