The parliamentary committee has asked the government to come up with a clear agreement on the School Education Bill within the next five days. This decision was made during a meeting of the Education, Health, and Information Technology Committee held on Sunday at Singha Durbar.

Committee Chairperson Ammar Bahadur Thapa gave this instruction directly to Education Minister Raghuji Pant. He asked the minister to hold necessary discussions, reach a common understanding, and submit a report to the committee within the given time.

During the meeting, Chairperson Thapa expressed concern that the government has not taken the committee seriously. He said the way the government is handling the bill makes it feel like the committee is being treated like a toy. He warned that ignoring the committee’s role can lead to serious consequences in the long run.

Minister Pant, on the other hand, mentioned that talks with the Teachers Federation are still ongoing and requested more time to finalize the agreement. However, the committee was not satisfied with the repeated delays. Chairperson Thapa reminded the government that it has already been asking for time since Asar 16 (June 30), and now is the time to move forward with clarity and responsibility.
