CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that lawlessness will not continue for long and that those involved in criminal acts will be punished according to the law.

He made the remarks on Thursday while visiting the house of Nepali Communist Party (former Maoist Centre) leader Gagan Puri in Damak Municipality–8, Jhapa. The house was set on fire during the Gen-Z movement on September 9.

While inspecting the damaged house, Oli said that those who carried out vandalism and arson in the name of the Gen-Z movement would eventually face legal action. He encouraged Puri to continue with legal steps, including filing official complaints.

“Lawlessness cannot last forever. One day, those involved will surely be brought under the law,” Oli said.

Puri said he has already gathered all evidence related to the incident and has started the legal process. He added that during the attack, his belongings were looted, household items were burned, and the house suffered serious damage.

Oli was welcomed with flowers when he arrived at Puri’s residence. After inspecting the house, he also visited the local office of the former Maoist party in Damak before leaving for Gauradaha.
