CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli said that Nepal has already discovered gas reserves and emphasized the need to use them properly by supplying gas directly to households through pipelines.
Speaking with local voters in Gauriganj, Jhapa, on Monday, Oli said that using the country’s own energy resources effectively is important for long-term development and improving people’s living standards. He added that Nepal should move away from traditional fuels like firewood and cow dung and adopt modern, sustainable energy solutions.
Oli explained that development means moving from burning firewood to using electricity and gas in daily life. He also said that some groups had misunderstood and distorted his earlier comments for political reasons.
Regarding past protests, Oli said criminal elements had infiltrated the Gen-Z protest and caused vandalism. He denied ordering the police to use lethal force, saying that some people falsely blamed him for deaths during the protests. He also claimed that there were attempts to burn the Parliament building and Singha Durbar, creating a violent situation orchestrated by criminals. He noted that 54 people died on September 9, after he had resigned as prime minister.
Oli further stated that CPN-UML has contributed more to Nepal’s development than other political parties. He argued that energy development, infrastructure, and economic growth should be the main focus in the upcoming elections.
