Local youths staged a protest in Siraha, accusing concerned authorities of negligence despite repeated road accidents along various sections of the Hulaki Highway.
The protest erupted as human casualties continued to rise, with demonstrators alleging that safety measures have not been implemented. During the demonstration, protesters burned effigies of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Chief District Officer of Siraha, and Hulaki Highway contractor Kishori Kalam Sah.
They claimed that the increasing number of accidents is due to poorly managed roads, lack of necessary traffic signs, and negligence in construction work.
The protesters demanded immediate road improvement, proper traffic management, and accountability from responsible authorities. They also warned of more intense protests if prompt action is not taken.
