On Monday, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) fell by 26.05 points, closing at 2,672.39 points.
The market opened at 2,698.44 points and quickly reached the day’s high of 2,702.42 points within the first minute. After that, it gradually declined and hit the lowest point of the day at 2,665.85 points in the last six minutes, before slightly recovering by around seven points at the close.
Among the sectors, only trading showed gains, rising by 9.01 points. The biggest fall was in non-life insurance, which dropped 159.17 points. Other sectors with significant losses included life insurance, manufacturing and processing, and hotels and tourism, all losing over 100 points.
The sensitive index, which tracks the performance of ‘A’ class companies, fell by 4.02 points. Daily turnover also fell to Rs 10.77 billion from Rs 11.65 billion.
Looking at individual companies, 42 recorded gains while 212 ended in losses. Ridi Power Company Limited had the largest trading volume, with shares worth Rs 771.91 million changing hands.
Among companies, Maya Khola Hydropower saw the biggest drop at 5.40%, while Khanikhola Hydropower posted the highest gain of 9.97%.
