The National Security Council (NSC) has decided to recommend the deployment of the Nepal Army for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
The 41st meeting of the NSC, held at Singha Durbar on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, concluded that army mobilization is necessary to ensure a free, fair, and fear-free election. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Council of Ministers in accordance with Article 266(1) of the Constitution.
During the meeting, the NSC also discussed and approved, with necessary revisions the draft of its eighth annual report, which will be submitted to the President. Officials reviewed emerging national and international security challenges and potential strategies to address them.
The meeting was attended by Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Chief Secretary Eka Narayan Aryal, Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel, and other senior officials.
