Normalcy is gradually returning in Birgunj metropolis, Parsa district, which witnessed clashes between segments of the society in the course of a religious procession, leading to tensions and the imposition of a curfew from 7.30 pm on Saturday (April 12).
In view of an improving situation, the Parsa district administration office lifted the curfew from the midnight of April 13 and issued limited prohibitory orders, allowing the movement of the people and other activities, a source at the Parsa district administration informed.
The curfew covered the Bypass road in the east, Sirsiya bridge in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north and Shankaracharya Gate in the south.
In an earlier notice, the district administration office appealed the public not to get misled by fake videos purportedly showing “incidents of arson”in Birgunj, stating that the situation was under control after the imposition of a curfew.
