The Nepali Congress has strongly opposed the recent dissolution of Parliament, saying it threatens Nepal’s democratic achievements and the gains of the Gen-Z movement.

In a virtual meeting of the party’s Central Executive Committee on Friday night, leaders decided to take a firm stand against the move.

The party’s Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel said in a statement that dissolving Parliament goes against the Constitution of Nepal and the guidance of the Supreme Court.

“This step undermines the framework of our Constitution and is not justified by constitutional provisions,” the statement said.

The party emphasized that protecting democratic values and the aspirations of citizens is essential, warning that the dissolution could reverse hard-earned progress in the country.
