Amid growing calls for transparency, the Young Communist League (YCL) has urged the government to launch a fair and comprehensive investigation into the properties of all political figures, including Prime Minister Sushila Karki.
At a joint press conference with the ANNFSU (Revolutionary) on Friday, YCL Chairperson Pushpa Oli said the government’s anti-corruption efforts must not be selective. He demanded that the inquiry cover former prime ministers, presidents, monarchs, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leaders alike.
“This is a state of justice and equality. We insist that even the Prime Minister’s property be investigated,” Oli said, adding that his party was ready for probes to begin with Maoist leaders themselves. “No one should be above scrutiny, and there should be no exemption for corruption.”
Oli also questioned why the properties of former royals and RPP leaders have not been examined, calling for the investigation to be truly neutral and broad-based.
Meanwhile, ANNFSU (Revolutionary) Chair Vijay Prakash Sapkota accused the government of failing to deliver on its election commitments, saying it has not acted in line with the people’s mandate.
