Nirmala Sharma has made history by becoming the first female president in the seven-decade history of the Federation of Nepali Journalist (FNJ) . She was elected with 4,282 votes from the Press Choutari and Press Union panel, defeating her closest rival, Ramesh Bisht, who received 3,203 votes. Under Sharma's leadership, the Choutari and Union panel secured 11 executive positions and five central member positions.
The elected officials from Sharma's panel include Deepak Acharya as Senior Vice President, Umid Bagchand as Inclusive Vice President, Nitu Pandit as Women’s Vice President, and Ram Prasad Dahal as General Secretary. Other key figures are Ramesh Khatiwada, Savin Priyasan, Ashok Kumar Tiwari, Sony Sharma, Prakash Dhoulakoti, Baikunth Parajuli as Secretary in different categories. The Treasurer position was won by Ramkrishna Adhikari.
In the open membership category, Laxdev Dhungana, Mukund Prasad Bhandari, Rameshwar Karki, Bhupendra Acharya, and Chhavilal Tiwari were elected from Sharma's panel.
In the geographical categories, Sharma’s panel secured several positions across provinces. Kamal Mani Rimala and Shankar Kharel were elected from Koshi Province, Rajesh Kumar Karn from Madhesh Province, Navraj Pathik and Narayan Adhikari from Bagmati Province, Krishna KC and KB Rana from Gandaki Province, Bikash Banjade and Ramraj Pokhrel from Lumbini Province, Tulram Pandey and Nagendra Prasad Upadhyaya from Karnali Province, and Yogendra Bahadur Balayar and Suresh Pant from Sudurpashchim Province. Additionally, Pavitra Mudbhari from Associates, Ruvikumari Rauniar from Women’s Madhesi, Mala Malungwa from Indigenous, Leela Shah Yogi from Khas Arya, Sikendra Paswan from Dalit, Bharat Jarkhamagar from Dalit Women, Devi Ghurti Magar from Indigenous Women, Rajakaran Mahato from Madhesi, Lalita Sah from Madhesi Women, Bhupraj Basyal from Disabled Groups, Laxman Thami from Minorities, and Keshav Prasad Bohra were also elected.
From the Vishtha-led panel, Ramkrishna Adhikari won the Treasurer position, while Raju Vishwakarma was elected from Koshi Province, Birendra Oli from the Establishment, Surya Suvedi and Arjun Pant from the Valley, and Rita Budhathoki as a central member. Manuka Kunwar, who srood independently, was also elected as a central member from the Associates.
