Harka Sampang, Chairperson of the Shram Sanskriti Party and a Member of the House of Representatives, emphasized the need for better time management and serious attention to public concerns while speaking at Thursday’s parliamentary meeting.
He stressed that change must begin with oneself and highlighted the importance of valuing time. He pointed out delays in parliamentary proceedings, saying that they were 12 minutes and 46 seconds late during the previous oath-taking ceremony and 16 minutes and 55 seconds late again, questioning whether the citizen had elected them for such delays. He added that the mindset of “Nepali time,” where a 2 PM meeting starting at 3 PM is considered acceptable, is a major reason for the country’s lack of progress.
Sampang also called for the cancellation of the MCC (Millennium Challenge Corporation) agreement. He argued that the project, which he described as an unequal and anti-national trade agreement initiated with military strategic objectives, should be scrapped.
He further stated that rather than presenting his own views, he wanted to highlight the demands of the people. Emphasizing national sovereignty, he said the country and its flag must endure forever, and called for safeguarding independence and a non-aligned foreign policy by canceling the MCC.
