Widespread monsoon rains have once again paralyzed road transport across Nepal, with landslides and floods blocking several key highways. As of 8 a.m. this morning, nine road sections remain completely closed, while three others are open one-way only, according to police reports.
In Koshi Province, sections of the Koshi Highway in Bhotkhola-4 and Makalu Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha, are fully blocked. Roads along the Mechi Highway in Ilam Municipality-9, Rajduwali, and nearby areas are also impassable, while the Tamor Corridor in Panchthar’s Tumbewa Rural Municipality has been cut off near Nawakhola.
In Bagmati Province, the Pasang Lhamu Highway at Gosainkunda-2, Rasuwa, has been completely obstructed. Multiple sections of the BP Highway, including Roshi Khola-11 (Mamti Khola, Dalabesi, Buldhunga, and Banjokhet) in Kavre, and Nepalthok Road in Sunkoshi-1, Sindhuli—are also closed to traffic.
Meanwhile, the Karnali Corridor in Kharpunath-5, Humla, and the Jugeni Khola Road in Pachal Jharana-8, Kalikot, are among the hardest-hit areas in Karnali Province.
Some partial operations have resumed in Sangurigadhi-1 (Chanoute, Simsuba, and 6 Ghante) under the Koshi Highway, and along the Kantilo Path in Makwanpur, where roads are currently open on a one-way basis.
Authorities are mobilizing clearing teams to reopen blocked routes and have advised travellers to avoid unnecessary movement in affected areas until further notice.
