Night Bus Carrying Teachers Crashes in Jhapa, 16 injured

A night bus traveling from Kathmandu to Jhapa met with an accident early this morning, injuring 16 teachers. The accident took place in Dudhe, along the East-West Highway, in Shivasatakshi municipality-9 of Jhapa district. The bus, with registration number Province 1–01–001–Kha 42, was carrying passengers including teachers returning home after participating in a protest in Kathmandu.

According to the district police office in Jhapa, the injured are currently receiving treatment at Birtacity Hospital and B&C Hospital. Superintendent of Police Milan Kumar KC confirmed that all the injured are teachers who had been in Kathmandu for the ongoing teacher movement.

One of the injured teachers, Lilaprasad Bhandari, shared that the accident happened suddenly and caused panic among the passengers. He also informed that fellow teacher Gopal Khatriwada is in a serious condition and receiving special medical care. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
