Protests were held in New York and other U.S. cities against the U.S.–Israeli attacks on Iran and to call for a ceasefire.
In Manhattan’s Union Square, thousands of demonstrators carried placards reading “Stop the War in Iran” and “Hands Off Iran.” Protesters urged the government to halt military actions against the country.
“I hope all nations and the international community will pressure Israel and the United States to stop the war,” said a protester, Adrina, noting the economic damage caused by the conflict.
The U.S. and Israel launched attacks against Iran on February 28, plunging the war-torn Middle East into a new phase of violence. Iran has retaliated with a series of counterattacks against U.S. and Israeli targets in the region.
According to Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, the U.S.–Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 1,332 Iranian civilians, including women and children, and left thousands injured.
