Today, Nepal was defeated by Australia by 83 runs in their final group stage match of the ICC Women's U-19 World Cup. Australia made it difficult for Nepal to chase the target of 140 runs, leading to Nepal struggling with the bat and managing only 56 runs. The top scorer for Nepal was captain Pooja Mahato with 18 runs, while none of the other Nepali players reached double figures.
Nepal’s captain, Pooja Mahato, was the standout bowler, taking three wickets. Seemana KC and Riya Sharma also contributed with two and one wicket, respectively. Today's loss marks Nepal’s third consecutive defeat in the tournament, as they had already lost to Bangladesh in the first match and to Scotland in the second match.
On the other hand, Australia won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a challenging target of 139/6 in their 20 overs. Caoimhe Bray was the top scorer, smashing 45 runs off 34 balls, with three fours and three sixes. Eleanor Larosa contributed 31 runs, and Hasrat Gill added 30.
The Australian team had earlier defeated Scotland by nine wickets and Bangladesh by two wickets. With today's win over Nepal, they secured undefeated record in the group stage.
