The Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) has filed a formal complaint with the District Police Offices of Kathmandu and Lalitpur against Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and Hami Nepal’s coordinator Sudhan Gurung, seeking a police investigation into their alleged involvement in the Gen-Z youth movement incidents that occurred on September 8 and 9 (Bhadra 23 and 24).
According to NSU, Shah and Gurung incited students to join the protest, which later escalated into arson, vandalism, and looting, causing damage to public property, national heritage, and private assets.
The complaint was submitted by NSU central members Manish Jung Thapa, Ashok Singh Bisht, and Bijay Shah, who have demanded the arrest and investigation of Balen and Gurung within 24 hours.
Earlier, Sudhan Gurung and several youths had filed a complaint against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and others, accusing them of using force against protesters. Similarly, the UML-affiliated ANNFSU had also lodged a separate complaint against Balen and Gurung.
