Parsa District has launched a week-long anti-cholera vaccination campaign targeting over 600,000 residents to curb infection risks following recent floods.

A mass anti-cholera vaccination campaign has begun in Parsa District from today, aiming to protect residents from potential outbreaks following recent flooding.
The drive was formally launched with Chief District Officer Toya Narayan Subedi receiving the first dose of the oral vaccine.
Dr. Abhiyan Gautam, Chief of the Child Health and Immunization Service Section, urged all residents above one year of age to take the medicine, noting that Parsa remains at high risk of cholera after recent inundations. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining hygiene and drinking clean water.
Similarly, Dr. Manoj Kumar Gupta of Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, encouraged public participation, assuring that the vaccine has no serious side effects and plays a vital role in preventing infection.
Public Health Officer Jayamod Thakur said the campaign targets around 645,000 people across the district. The vaccination drive will continue until October 19.
