Police in Jhapa have recovered a cache of 303 rifles that were looted during the September 9 Gen-Z protest, after locals reported finding the weapons near a temple in Damak.

A total of 303 rifles believed to have been looted during the Gen-Z protest on September 9, 2025, were recovered near the eastern gate of Dhaneshwor Temple in Damak Municipality–5, Jhapa, early Saturday morning.
According to police, the firearms were found abandoned, prompting an immediate response after locals notified the Area Police Office, Damak. A team led by Police Inspector Nabin Rai reached the site and secured the weapons.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka confirmed that the cache included 303 rifles along with magazines, matching those stolen during the protest unrest.
Authorities have now transferred the recovered weapons to the Area Police Office, Damak, after completing the necessary legal and security procedures.
Police say further investigation is underway to identify those involved in abandoning the rifles and to trace the remaining missing weapons, if any.
