The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced the schedule for electing its new leaders at the special general convention currently happening in Kathmandu.

The election committee has set the deadline for candidates to submit their nominations at 9:15 am today. “All remaining election procedures will start right after that,” said Sitaram KC, senior advocate and coordinator of the committee.

Voting will be held for the positions of one president, two vice presidents, two general secretaries, eight joint general secretaries, and 121 central members, following the party’s existing rules.

The five-member election committee, led by KC, was formed according to the convention’s working procedures.

A total of 4,635 delegates from the general convention are eligible to vote for the party’s new leadership.

The special convention, organized by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Biswaprakash Sharma, began on January 11. Originally planned for two days, it was extended to allow more time for discussions with the party’s establishment faction, which had opposed the convention called by more than half of the delegates.
