The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has fined two firms for violating consumer protection regulations following a recent market inspection.
According to the department, BS Dhawalagiri Traders was fined Rs 10,000, while Sindhu Materials Pvt. Ltd. was penalized Rs 15,000 for operating in contravention of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075 BS. The action was taken during monitoring of firms dealing in construction materials.
Out of 14 firms inspected, two were fined, while the remaining 12 were issued corrective instructions. The department said market monitoring is being carried out regularly in coordination with local administration, consumer rights activists, and other relevant bodies.
The department has warned that any firm found violating legal provisions will face penalties as per existing laws.
