The Nepalese government has again appealed the governments of Qatar and Egypt to assist in the release of Nepali student Bipin Joshi, who is currently under the control of the Hamas group.
Through the ambassadors of Egypt and Qatar to Nepal, the government has requested both countries to make special efforts for Bipin's release. Hamas is planning to release 34 hostages in its custody. Nepal's Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba has appealed to the governments of Qatar and Egypt, which are mediating with Hamas, to help secure Bipin’s freedom.
Dr. Rana made the request during a courtesy meeting with the Egyptian Ambassador to Nepal, Noha Hamdi Ahmed El-Gebaly. Additionally, Dr. Rana also contacted Qatar’s Ambassador to Nepal, Misal Mohammed Al Ansari, by phone, urging him to facilitate efforts for Bipin’s release. Ambassador Al Ansari, currently in Qatar, confirmed that he would raise the issue with Qatar’s Foreign Minister and provide further updates.
Hamas is reportedly planning to release elderly individuals, women, children, and those in fragile health as part of the first phase of its release efforts. Dr. Rana has requested both Qatar and Egypt to ensure Bipin’s inclusion in this phase.
Last Wednesday, Dr. Rana also reached out to the Israeli government for Bipin’s release through the Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Samulik Eri Bas.
