Nepal secured a thrilling 1-wicket victory over Afghanistan in their final match of the U19 Asia Cup in Sharjah, UAE.
After choosing to bat first, Afghanistan managed to score only 124 runs, thanks to excellent bowling by Nepal. Younis Thakuri and Santosh Yadav each took three wickets, while captain Hemant Dhami and Abhishek Tiwari picked up two wickets each.
Nepal’s chase wasn’t easy, as they struggled at 84 for 8 at one point. However, captain Hemant Dhami (22 not out) and Naren Saud (26) put together a crucial 31-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Their efforts brought Nepal close to the target, and Dhami stayed unbeaten to finish the job in 41.3 overs.
Other notable contributions came from Arjun Kumal (21), Abhishek Tiwari (13), and Akash Tripathi (9). Afghanistan’s bowlers Allah Ghazanfar and Khatir Stanikzai kept the pressure on, taking three wickets each.
Although Nepal won this exciting match, they were unable to move to the knockout stage after earlier losses to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Still, the team showed great fight and gave their fans a reason to cheer.
