Nepal’s blind women’s cricket team will take on India today in the final of the first-ever Blind Women’s T20 World Cup at P. Sara Oval in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Nepal earned their spot by defeating Pakistan by 7 wickets in the second semifinal, while India reached the final after beating Australia by 9 wickets in the first semifinal.

 

This marks the first time Nepal has reached the final of a blind women’s cricket World Cup. Cricket Association for the Blind Nepal President Pawan Ghimire hailed the achievement as a major milestone for the country’s sports and said the visually impaired players have inspired many through their performance.

 

Captain Gita Paudel expressed confidence in her team and said they aim to deliver their best and win the title. The tournament featured six teams, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, and the USA. Nepal won four out of five league matches, losing only to India before triumphing over Pakistan in the semifinal.

 

The World Cup began in New Delhi and Bengaluru, India, with the semifinals and final held in Sri Lanka.
