Puja Mahato’s unbeaten 62 off 51 balls helped Nepal Women set a target of 146 runs against the Netherlands Women in the 7th match of the Nepal Women’s T20I Tri-Series at Kirtipur.
Mahato’s steady innings included 5 boundaries and maintained a strike rate of 121.56, providing the backbone of Nepal’s batting effort.
The team had a shaky start, losing both openers early. Samjhana Khadka scored 6 runs before being caught behind off Iris Zwilling’s bowling. Soon after, Mamta Chaudhary was also dismissed for just 1 run, leaving Nepal struggling at 7/2 in the third over.
Captain Indu Barma added stability to the innings with a crucial 39 runs from 37 balls, hitting 5 boundaries before getting stumped in the 13th over. By then, Eva Lynch’s bowling had brought Nepal to 85/3.
Rubina Chhetry added 20 runs off 17 balls before being dismissed in the 18th over, while Kabita Joshi finished unbeaten with 7 runs, including a six.
For the Netherlands, Iris Zwilling was the most successful bowler, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs. Caroline de Lange took 1 wicket, while Eva Lynch and Silver Siegers kept the scoring in check but did not claim any wickets.
Nepal has now set a competitive target of 146 runs for the Netherlands Women to chase.
