Nepal lost to Sri Lanka by 55 runs in their opening match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, which started today in the UAE.
Nepal, chasing Sri Lanka's target of 234 runs, was bowled out for 178 in 46.2 overs. The highest scorer for Nepal was opener Mayan Yadav, who made 62 runs. Sri Lanka’s Praveen Manish took 3 wickets for 30 runs in 9 overs. Newthan Ranjitkumar, Mathulan Kugathas, and Vihas Thiyomika also contributed with 2 wickets each.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first. They lost all their wickets and managed to score 233 runs. The top scorer for Sri Lanka was Sarujan Sanmughanathan, who made 62 runs. Lakvin Abesinghe also contributed with 50 runs, and Kavija Gamage added 37 runs to the total.
Nepal’s bowling performance was led by Santosh Yadav, who took 4 wickets for 45 runs in 10 overs. Yuvaraj Khatri took 2 wickets, while captain Hemant Dhami and Naren Saud claimed 1 wicket each.
