Nepal Loses to Namibia by 23 Runs in Women's T20 Tournament

Nepal faced a 23-run defeat against Namibia in the Women’s T20 International Cricket Tournament taking place in Uganda. The match was held at the Entebbe Cricket Oval on Wednesday.

Chasing a target of 126 runs, Nepal managed to score only 102 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Sana Praveen was the top scorer for Nepal with 31 runs, while Kabita Kunwar remained not out at 17. Pooja Mahato and captain Indu Verma contributed 15 runs each.

Namibia’s bowlers put up a strong performance, with Evelyn Kejarukwa taking 2 wickets. Wilka Mwatil, Saima Tuhadelini, and Mikeli Mwatil each took 1 wicket.

Earlier, Namibia batted first after losing the toss and scored 125 runs in 20 overs, losing 8 wickets. Yasmin Khan led the scoring with 45 runs, followed by Wilka Mwatil with 20 runs. Arasta Diegergaard remained not out at 16, and Sune Wittman added 15 runs.

Among Nepali bowlers, Ishwari Bista took 3 wickets, while Rachna Kumari Chaudhary claimed 2 wickets. Riya Sharma and Indu Verma took 1 wicket each.

This is Nepal’s third loss in the four-nation tournament. They previously lost to Namibia by 6 wickets in their first encounter and suffered a narrow 2-run defeat against Hong Kong. However, Nepal secured a win against Uganda by 1 wicket.

Nepal will play its next match against Uganda tomorrow.
