Nepal’s national cricket team received an official send-off on Thursday at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, ahead of its first-ever bilateral series against a Test-playing nation. The Unity Cup T20I series in the UAE runs from September 27 to 30. Officials present included National Sports Council Member Secretary Tanka Lal Ghising, CAN Vice President Roshan Singh, and CAN Secretary Paras Khadka.
Captain Rohit Paudel said the team was well-prepared after recent international exposure in Australia, the UK, Scotland, and Hong Kong. Assistant coach Gyanendra Malla called the series a historic opportunity to test Nepal against a world-class opponent.
Two players, Mohammad Adil Alam and Sundeep Jora, have returned to the squad, adding depth and experience. Adil described playing against the West Indies as a major learning experience, while Jora highlighted the rare opportunity to contribute to the team’s success.
The three-match series marks a milestone for Nepali cricket and serves as final preparation ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Regional Final. Paudel emphasized that a strong performance would boost confidence for World Cup qualification.
