Nepal’s men’s national cricket team is set to fly to the UAE on Monday for a historic T20 series against the West Indies, the first-ever bilateral meeting between the two sides.
The three matches will take place on September 27, 29, and 30. Originally scheduled to leave on September 19, the team’s departure was delayed due to the Gen Z protests in Nepal. The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed on Sunday that visa issues have now been resolved.
Nepal views the series as crucial preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier in Oman, where nine teams will compete for three World Cup berths. Nepal is drawn in Group B alongside Japan and Kuwait.
The 16-member Nepali squad will be led by Rohit Paudel, while Akeal Hosein captains a strong West Indies lineup featuring experienced names like Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers.
