With hopes of securing a spot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the Nepali national cricket team will take on Kuwait tonight in their opening match of the Asia–East Asia Pacific Qualifiers.
Nepal, drawn in Group ‘B’ alongside Kuwait and Japan, will begin their campaign at 8:45 PM (NST) on Wednesday, followed by their second group-stage clash against Japan on Friday.
This will be Nepal’s first competitive match against Japan, while their head-to-head record with Kuwait has seen mixed outcomes. Elsewhere, Group ‘A’ features UAE, Malaysia, and Qatar, and Group ‘C’ includes Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Samoa.
Coming into the tournament in strong form, Nepal recently triumphed over West Indies A in a T20 series held in the UAE and won both practice matches in Oman.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the Super Six stage, with the leading three teams from there earning qualification for the 2026 T20 World Cup, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
