Nepal has been ranked as the happiest country in South Asia, according to the World Happiness Report 2025. The report, which evaluates 147 countries based on factors like economic stability, social support, and quality of life, placed Nepal in the 92nd position with a score of 5.311. This marks an improvement from last year when Nepal was ranked 93rd.
Among South Asian countries, Nepal secured the top spot in happiness rankings. Pakistan was ranked 109th, India 118th, Sri Lanka 133rd, China 68th, and Bangladesh 134th. Nepal’s progress in the ranking highlights positive changes in the country’s overall well-being and living conditions.
Globally, Finland continues to be the happiest country in the world, followed by Denmark in second place, Iceland in third, Sweden in fourth, and the Netherlands in fifth. The top ten happiest countries include Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, the United States has experienced a decline in the happiness ranking. Last year, it held the 23rd position, but this year, it has dropped to 24th place. The report considers various factors such as income levels, health, education, and social trust to determine the rankings.
The World Happiness Report is published annually and provides insights into how different countries are improving or declining in terms of happiness. Nepal’s ranking shows gradual progress, reflecting improvements in social and economic aspects of life.
