In a shocking incident from Sindhuli's Golanjor Rural Municipality-6, Bageshwor, 16 members of a single family with the surname "Hayu" have mysteriously gone missing. The list of the missing individuals was made public by Ward Chairperson Rabin Shrestha.
According to police, the family was last known to have reached Ramechhap three days ago. The District Police Office in Sindhuli reported that the family's phone location was last tracked to Ramechhap at 10:09 PM on Friday. Since then, their phones have been switched off, and no further location data could be traced.
Locals reported that the family had not been seen since Thursday. Surprisingly, their cattle and belongings were still at home, but there were no signs of any family members. Their house is located in a remote area, and it takes at least 15 minutes to reach the next home. On Monday morning, villagers found their door open and no one inside, which led to the start of a search operation.
Interestingly, the Hayu family belongs to a marginalized indigenous group officially recognized as endangered. The local government had been providing them with a monthly allowance of Rs. 4,000 per person, which they had recently collected. It was also reported that they had slaughtered a pig and eaten at home before disappearing.
The missing individuals include elderly members, adults, teenagers, and small children:
Authorities are continuing the search, but the sudden disappearance has raised serious concerns and speculations in the community.
