Muktinath Temple is a highly revered pilgrimage site in Nepal, located in the Mustang district at an altitude of 3,710 meters (12,172 feet) near the Thorong La mountain pass on the Annapurna Circuit. The temple holds immense spiritual significance for both Hindus and Buddhists, symbolizing liberation and salvation. Here are key details about Muktinath:

For Hindus, Muktinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, known as the "Lord of Liberation" (Mukti means liberation; Nath means lord). It is one of the 108 Divya Desams (sacred Vishnu temples) and is believed to offer salvation (moksha) to those who visit.

For Buddhists, the site is associated with Avalokiteśvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion. The temple reflects the deep spiritual interconnection between Hinduism and Buddhism.

The temple complex features 108 bull-faced spouts from which holy water flows. Pilgrims believe bathing under these spouts purifies them of sins .Additionally, near the temple, a natural flame burns continuously, fueled by natural gas. This is considered a manifestation of the divine and a sacred element.

In addition to spiritual and religious purposes, many people visit Muktinath to honor their ancestors by performing shraddha (ancestral rites). It is believed that conducting these rituals at such a sacred site brings peace to the souls of departed loved ones. Others visit simply to experience the serene and mystical Himalayan environment, which offers a unique sense of tranquility and spiritual connection.

Overall, Muktinath Temple is a destination for devotion, spiritual awakening, and inner peace, drawing pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
