Widespread rainfall across the country has raised flood concerns, prompting the Flood Forecasting Division to issue a yellow alert in 41 districts, including Kathmandu.
As of this morning, water levels in Karnali and Mahakali rivers are already near the warning mark. Other major rivers like Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Kamala, East and West Rapti, Babai, and Kankai are still flowing below alert levels but are expected to rise as rainfall continues.
The Division has also warned that small rivers in areas such as Sindhupalchok, Chitwan, Dang, Bardiya, Kailali, and Jajarkot could swell rapidly, posing a moderate to high risk of flash floods.
Similarly, medium-level risk has been predicted in districts like Ilam, Jhapa, Sarlahi, Nuwakot, Parbat, Dolakha, and Dadeldhura, where smaller rivers may also overflow.
People living near riverbanks and in low-lying areas have been urged to remain alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow safety updates as heavy rainfall is likely to continue throughout the day.
