Nepali Congress MP Deepak Giri has urged the government to fully implement Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) citizenship with all rights enshrined in the Constitution. Speaking in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Giri, a former minister, said NRNs are development partners of Nepal and should be legally allowed to invest in the country like regular Nepali citizens.

He also congratulated Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and his team for assuming the NRNA leadership through the recent NRN Global Unity Convention. “I wish them success and hope they include those who have been left out,” Giri added.

In the same meeting, CPN-UML MP Thakur Gaire stressed the need for unity among NRNs. He noted that some issues related to NRNs are still under review in the Supreme Court, and the formation of a new committee has made the organization appear divided.

Gaire said the focus now should be on building unity and teamwork among NRNs to work more effectively for Nepal's benefit.
