The monsoon season has now spread across the entire country starting today.
According to a special weather bulletin from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM), this happened 23 days after the monsoon first entered Nepal.
This year, the monsoon entered Nepal from the eastern region on May 29, first covering most of Koshi Province. By June 12, it had reached parts of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and eastern Lumbini provinces.
Meteorologist Pratima Manandhar said that the monsoon has now also reached Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. This means the monsoon is now active across the whole country.
She added, “Right now, monsoon winds are affecting parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as eastern Lumbini. In the western regions, local and western winds are also having some effect. A low-pressure system near West Bengal, India, is partly influencing the weather too.”
