The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has urged everyone to respect the dignity and honour of the national flag and to use it only in accordance with the law.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said that misuse of the national flag is punishable under existing laws.
According to the Election Code of Conduct, 2082 BS, candidates are allowed to use a maximum of 10 national flags during election campaigns. This limit applies to rallies, mass meetings, corner meetings, and other campaign activities.
The ministry also clarified that the national flag must not be used in a disrespectful manner or in places and situations that go against public morality and decency.
The Procedures for the Use of the National Flag and National Anthem, 2069 BS are currently in effect to ensure that the flag is used properly, respectfully, and systematically.
The Chief District Officer (CDO) has been given the authority to monitor whether the national flag is being used in line with these procedures.
