Heavy snowfall and rainfall over the past few days in Afghanistan have caused significant loss of life and property. According to the National Disaster Management Authority, at least 61 people have lost their lives and 110 others have been injured due to the natural disaster. The calamity has fully or partially destroyed 458 houses in various parts of Afghanistan.

 

The authority stated that these figures are preliminary, and as surveys and assessments are still ongoing in different areas, the number of dead and injured may increase. Due to extreme cold and continuous snowfall over the past three days, major highways connecting the capital Kabul with other provinces have also been blocked.
