Minister for Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Anil Kumar Sinha has stated that the existing law related to domestic films is being amended to promote, develop, and expand the Nepali film industry.
He made the remarks while speaking at a meeting of the Legislative Management Committee under the National Assembly of the Federal Parliament held at Singha Durbar on Monday. Minister Sinha said that the discussions by lawmakers regarding amendments to the film-related law reflect the aspirations of the entire country. He also stated that the government intends to establish the necessary policy and legal framework to facilitate the production of films as desired by the nation.
Minister Sinha emphasized that the government is working to develop the film sector as a social, cultural, and entertainment industry.
He said, “The government is attempting to amend and integrate the existing film-related laws to present them in a new form, in order to develop the domestic film sector, promote its expansion, and regulate it, while developing the sector as a social, cultural, and entertainment industry. The discussions held here have substantially shaped the amendments, incorporating various aspects desired by society and the country. The Ministry’s perspectives are also included in this draft. I would like to express my gratitude for the constructive discussions that contributed to this draft.”
Minister Sinha also expressed confidence that the consultations conducted for the preparation of the film-related law would be highly useful.
