Manakamana Temple is a sacred Hindu temple located in the Gorkha district of Nepal. It is dedicated to Goddess Manakamana, a manifestation of the Hindu Goddess Bhagwati, who is believed to fulfill the wishes of her devotees. The temple is perched atop a hill at an elevation of 1,302 meters (4,270 feet), offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The temple is an important pilgrimage site for Hindus, and people from all over Nepal and neighboring India visit to seek blessings for their desires. The most popular way to reach the temple is via the Manakamana Cable Car, which offers a scenic ride up to the temple, cutting down the arduous trek that used to take several hours. The cable car was inaugurated in 1998 and has become a major tourist attraction.
The temple holds significant religious importance, with people traditionally offering sacrifices and prayers to the goddess in hopes of having their wishes granted. Pilgrims also perform rituals and ceremonies to honor the goddess during specific festivals, particularly during Dashain and Tihar.
