Mahabir Pun Urges New Leaders to Unite for Change

Outgoing Education Minister and Myagdi lawmaker Mahabir Pun said the country can only get a new prime minister if new leaders come together and support each other.

After submitting his resignation and returning to Myagdi, Pun said that a change in leadership is not possible unless emerging leaders stand by one another.

Pun, who resigned from his ministerial post overnight, has also filed to run as an independent candidate for the House of Representatives from Myagdi.

Referring to the election schedule, he said Thursday is the last day for candidates to withdraw their nominations and it is still unclear how many will do so.

He emphasized that for real political change at the top, new leaders must actively support new faces.
