The United States has advised its citizens to “immediately return” from over a dozen Middle Eastern countries due to rising security risks, following coordinated U.S.-Israel airstrikes on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory attacks on U.S. allies in the Gulf.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stressed that citizen safety is the top priority, urging Americans to register with the STEP system, monitor travel advisories, and contact the 24-hour emergency number if needed. Assistant Secretary Mora Namdar specifically recommended leaving Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Lebanon, Iran, Oman, Iraq, Qatar, Israel, West Bank and Gaza, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, UAE, and Yemen via commercial flights.

CENTCOM confirmed six U.S. military personnel killed amid the conflict, including two recently found dead from Iran’s initial attacks. The February 28 airstrikes targeted Iranian military and strategic sites, reportedly killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and senior officials.

Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on U.S. assets and allies, intensifying regional tensions. President Trump warned that U.S. military operations will continue to counter Iran’s missile, nuclear, and terrorism threats.
