Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) President Rajendra Lingden has responded to Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s’ recent remarks, saying it’s natural for him to be worried when the republican system is being questioned.
During a royalist protest in Kathmandu on Saturday demanding the return of the monarchy, Lingden told journalists that Prachanda’s nervousness is understandable. “When the foundation of the republic shakes, it’s normal for him to feel pressure. People say many things when they’re stressed, and I don’t take it personally,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Prachanda had accused royalists of bringing people to the protest by offering money and food. In response, Lingden said Prachanda was likely speaking from his own past experience. “He has done this before, bringing people to Kathmandu, hosting big feasts in party palaces. So maybe he is just remembering how he did it himself,” Lingden remarked.
Lingden also expressed confidence that growing public support could eventually force the government to respond. “If the support continues like this, we will make the government listen. And if we fall short this time, we’ll try again. We will keep going,” he added.
