Traffic along the Narayanghat–Muglin road has come to a standstill after a massive landslide buried around 160 meters of roadway near Tuinkhola on Tuesday evening.

According to Narayan Lamichhane, chief of the Division Road Office, Bharatpur, debris removal began Wednesday morning with two loaders, one excavator, and a backhoe in operation, while another excavator is being brought from Damauli. He said clearance could take at least two more days, adding that smaller landslips remain a risk despite reduced chances of a major slide.

Continuous landslides since Friday had previously allowed only limited vehicle movement, but Tuesday’s slide forced a complete halt. Freight trucks have formed long queues, while passenger vehicles are being diverted.

Authorities have advised travelers to use alternative routes. Small vehicles from Chitwan can take the Jutpani–Shaktikhor–Mayanthar route to Malekhu in Dhading or the Tribhuvan Highway via Naubise to Hetauda. Light vehicles from Hetauda may travel through Bhainse, Bhimphedi, Kulekhani, and Sisneri to Dakshinkali.

For heavy vehicles heading to Kathmandu, the Kanti Highway via Hetauda and Satdobato in Lalitpur is recommended. Those bound for Pokhara can reroute via Butwal, with small vehicles also able to use the Kaligandaki Corridor. From Gaindakot, vehicles may head toward Bhimad in Tanahun and Rampur in Palpa, the office said.
