Heavy rainfall has triggered landslides, blocking the Karnali Highway at multiple points, including areas in Kalikot and Dailekh. The landslides, which began Sunday evening, have completely halted traffic along the Surkhet–Jumla section of the highway.
Due to the obstruction, transportation between several districts, including Kalikot, Jumla, Mugu, Bajura, Humla, and Surkhet, has come to a standstill. Cargo and public vehicles are currently stranded.
Efforts are underway to clear the debris with the help of machinery. However, continuous rainfall and active landslide zones are making the process challenging. Road authorities have mobilized necessary equipment to resume traffic as soon as conditions improve.
