With more rain predicted throughout the week, Dhangadhi continues to struggle with the effects of heavy downpours that began on Sunday. Continuous rainfall has flooded large parts of the city, with nearly 2,000 homes already inundated.
Rescue efforts are underway. On Monday, authorities saved eight people trapped by rising waters, four from Shrilanka in Ward 13 and four from Beli village. In one case, a family was rescued after their mud house was flooded and they were relocated to a nearby relative’s home. Another family found temporary shelter at a local school.
Wards 1, 3, 4, 7, 11, and 13 are the most affected, according to local officials. Residents are being urged to remain cautious as water levels could rise further due to continued rainfall.
