Ujyalo Nepal Party Chair Kulman Ghising has responded to criticism about his role in the post-Gen-Z movement government and his later entry into politics.

In a Facebook post, Ghising explained that he joined the non-partisan government formed after the Gen-Z movement out of necessity. At that time, the country’s situation was fragile, and he accepted a ministerial role at the request of then-Prime Minister Sushila Karki and movement leaders.

He said he had informed the Prime Minister that taking a ministerial post would not be suitable if he later chose to enter politics. He agreed to serve only with the understanding that he could resign to pursue a political career.

Ghising defended his tenure, saying he joined the government when state systems were nearly non-functional and helped stabilize them. He also noted that he resigned amid political questions, emphasizing that his work was driven by duty, not personal gain.

During his 115 days in office, overseeing the Ministries of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport, and Urban Development, Ghising said he focused on responsibility and public service.

He also claimed that false information has been spread about him and asked people not to be misled. Ghising reaffirmed his commitment to active politics and his goal of strengthening Ujyalo Nepal.
