Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive at the Nepal Scouts’ premises in Lainchaur, tearing down structures built by former Energy Minister and Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka.

According to officials, Khadka had been using the Scouts’ national headquarters land on lease but had failed to pay rent for an extended period. After repeated reminders, Nepal Scouts issued a public notice on Kartik 20, warning Khadka to clear dues within seven days or face legal and administrative action.

With the deadline expiring today, the Scouts, with support from Kathmandu Metropolitan Police and a bulldozer team, moved to reclaim the property and remove the unauthorized structures.

The organization also stated it would recover the pending rent amount through Khadka’s assets if payment is not made. The land in question covers around three ropanis and had been under Khadka Land Development Pvt. Ltd., a company owned by the former minister.
