Former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has revealed that he was not informed by the interim government about the alleged travel restrictions or the blocking of his passport. Speaking at a Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting on Wednesday, Lekhak said no official notice, written or verbal was communicated to him regarding the decision.
He added that he only learned about the travel ban and passport hold through news reports, along with former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, weeks after the government’s action.
On the Gen-Z protests, Lekhak stressed that he took all necessary steps to prevent any untoward incidents. He claimed he had repeatedly instructed security officials to ensure safety and avoid casualties and noted that the police chief had publicly confirmed his directions.
